Agentic Mobile Protocol (AMP) AMP
Agentic Mobile Protocol (AMP) is an agentic-web standard (endpoint) at step 7, Pay, governed by Ant International; its own status is "Described by Ant International as fully open-sourced at launch (2026-04-28); the public repository was created 2026-08-17 and has no tags or releases" (draft). It answers: How can an AI agent shop and pay through a person's mobile wallet, within limits the person signed in advance, and have each step checked against that permission? Adoption is claimed by Ant International (launch press 2026-04-28: 40+ wallet partners, 1.8 billion accounts, 150 million merchants; global rollout reported 2026-09-11 with 50+ mobile payment partners), last verified 2026-10-20.
Pay AMP is Ant International's open protocol for AI agents that shop and pay through mobile wallets on the Alipay+ network [1][3]. The person signs a Mandate in advance, either IMMEDIATE (one purchase) or AUTONOMOUS (the agent may act later within limits) [2]. An Intent Guard then checks each later step against that mandate [1].
Overview
The spec text names four checkpoints: mandate creation pre-verification, payment token, payment request and wallet debit (S1 to S4). It also defines three layers of assurance data (user identity, mandate authorization and payment token request), carried as a three-layer SD-JWT [2]. The repository has five spec documents with MUST/SHOULD requirements, under Apache-2.0 [1].
Ant International launched AMP on 2026-04-28, calling it fully open-sourced and citing 40+ wallet partners, 1.8 billion accounts and 150 million merchants [3]. The public repository, however, was only created on 2026-08-17 and has no tags or releases [1]. A global rollout with 50+ mobile payment partners was reported on 2026-09-11 [4]. All adoption figures are Ant's own.
AMP defines nothing at a merchant's origin, so there is no path to probe. It overlaps in purpose with AP2's mandates and the card networks' agent-payment schemes, but runs on wallet rails rather than cards.
Discovery and probe
none at an origin; mandates, payment tokens and assurance data pass between the agent, the wallet and the Alipay+ network
GET none — mandates and payment tokens are exchanged inside an authorised wallet flow parse: No public artefact at a fixed path to parse. on absent: Not probeable from an origin; check the merchant's or wallet's own announcement instead.
