Microsoft ships MCP C# SDK 2.0 with stateless HTTP by default, InfoQ reports

According to InfoQ, the stable MCP C# SDK 2.0 implements the 2026-07-28 MCP revision and drops the initialize handshake and session header. Separately, testers report that Web Bot Auth verifiers and vendor examples disagree with the IETF draft, and the Agentic AI Foundation added four projects.

1. MCP C# SDK 2.0 implements the 2026-07-28 revision with stateless HTTP by default

launch Model Context Protocol

According to InfoQ, Microsoft announced the stable release of version 2.0 of the official MCP C# SDK, which implements the 2026-07-28 revision of the MCP specification. Streamable HTTP servers are now stateless by default. The initialize handshake and the Mcp-Session-Id header are gone, and protocol version and capabilities travel with every request. Clients probe server/discover first and fall back to the legacy handshake for older servers. Minor releases 2.1 to 2.3 followed between August and October.

Why it matters: .NET servers that still need sessions must set HttpServerTransportOptions.Stateless to false. Stateful-only options and the legacy SSE endpoints now raise MCP9006 and MCP9004 warnings.

2. Web Bot Auth: reference verifier and payment-network examples diverge from the draft

security Web Bot Auth HTTP Message Signatures, Signature Agent Card (Web Bot Auth registry), Visa Trusted Agent Protocol, HTTP Message Signatures

A post on Fork reports that on 2026-10-26, Cloudflare's reference verifier test site rejected the dictionary form of Signature-Agent that draft-ietf-webbotauth-httpsig-protocol-00 says signers MUST send. The same site accepted the older string form. Separately, Tom Wang writes that the signed-request examples in Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol spec and Mastercard's Agent Pay fail Ed25519 verification. He says both set a 60-minute validity window, which breaks the 8-minute limit each network tells merchants to enforce.

Why it matters: A signer that follows the draft to the letter may fail Cloudflare's verifier today. Test against each verifier rather than copying vendor examples, and re-test before switching back to the draft's form, as the post advises.

3. Agentic AI Foundation adds Open Responses, Agent Skills, OpenSandbox and OpenEnv

governance Open Responses Specification, Agent Skills, Model Context Protocol

According to InfoQ, the Agentic AI Foundation added four projects at AGNTCon + MCPCon North America 2026 in San Jose, growing from three founding projects to ten in its first year. OpenAI contributed Open Responses, Anthropic added Agent Skills, Alibaba contributed OpenSandbox, and Hugging Face added OpenEnv. InfoQ says much of the October 22-23 program moved from new protocol features to security and identity.

Why it matters: Implementers of Open Responses or Agent Skills should follow AAIF governance, which InfoQ says also gained three new committees.

4. AWS adds managed agent payments with x402 support to Bedrock AgentCore

adoption x402

Hamidun News, summarizing the AWS Machine Learning Blog, reports that AWS introduced Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments. The service lets agents pay for external services per request, with spending limits enforced at the infrastructure level rather than in the agent's prompt. In the showcase case, Incarna's agents pay BlockRun for inference one request at a time via x402. According to AWS, adding x402 support went from months to days.

Why it matters: Teams on AgentCore may not need to build their own x402 payment layer. Check the AWS original before relying on this secondary summary.

5. Agent Name Service v2 returns as active draft -02

spec Agent Name Service v2 (ANS)

draft-narajala-courtney-ansv2-02 was published 26 October 2026 by authors from GoDaddy, OWASP, DistributedApps.ai and Cisco Systems, and expires 29 April 2027. ANS v2 binds an agent endpoint to its DNS domain holder, a specific software release and an auditable history. It uses DNSSEC, the Web PKI with DANE where published, and an append-only Merkle-tree transparency log, and introduces no new root of trust. Each new version is a new registration and log entry.

Why it matters: The design lets verifiers pin MCP or A2A agents to a specific release. It is an Informational independent submission with no formal IETF standing.

6. OAuth-side drafts on agent delegation and authorization gaps updated

spec

draft-niyikiza-oauth-attenuating-agent-tokens-02 defines signed tokens that list the tools an agent may invoke and the argument constraints on those calls. It profiles RFC 9396, and holders can derive narrower tokens offline that any enforcement point can verify offline against the root issuer's key. draft-chen-oauth-agent-authz-use-cases-05, from China Mobile, CNNIC and Huawei authors, updates a gap analysis against OAuth 2.0. draft-emerson-oauth-user-mediated-delivery-01 proposes delivering credentials through the user's trusted context.

Why it matters: All three are individual drafts without IETF standing. The gap analysis positions itself as groundwork for future OAuth Working Group extensions for agents.

7. Three competing agent audit-record formats revised or posted

spec Agent Audit Trail, An Audit Record Format for AI Agent Authorization Decisions

draft-sharif-agent-audit-trail-09 specifies JSON records with mandatory fields for agent identity, authorizing principal, action, outcome and trust level. Records are hash-chained with SHA-256, with optional ECDSA signatures, and map to EU AI Act logging requirements. draft-gilda-audit-agent-audit-record-01 defines a signed in-toto predicate in a DSSE envelope for authorization decisions and their observed effects. draft-dobson-ai-decision-receipt-00 defines an AI-Decision-Receipt HTTP response header pointing to a tamper-evident log entry.

Why it matters: The formats overlap, and none has IETF standing. Teams adding agent audit logging should compare them before committing to one.

8. SISTRIX study finds no AI citation lift from llms.txt

research llms.txt

Discoverable reports on a SISTRIX study of 96,418 pages, published on 22 October 2026. The study found no measurable effect of llms.txt on citations by ChatGPT, Google AI Mode or Google AI Overviews: 11.7% of cited pages came from domains with an llms.txt, against 14.0% across all domains. Pages with clear structure, such as tables of contents, question headings and tables, were cited more often. On our panel, 229 of 278 domains publish llms.txt.

Why it matters: On this evidence, AI citation gains are not a reason to publish llms.txt. The study covered pages from Germany, Austria and Switzerland only.

9. Preprint: MCP and CLI interfaces with matched capabilities change agent behavior

research Model Context Protocol

In an arXiv preprint, Zhenning Shi, Liang Pang and Yongqi Li compare MCP and CLI interfaces generated from a shared action contract and run through the same runtime. Across six models and three interactive environments, the authors report substantial differences in task performance and interaction cost. They also report structured divergence in 94.3% of 2,004 episodes.

Why it matters: The authors argue that how tools are presented affects agent behavior, not just what the tools do. Teams exposing the same tools over MCP and CLI may want to evaluate both; the findings are the authors' claims.

10. Panel: small dips for MCP and Server Cards as descope.com drops four signals

adoption Model Context Protocol, MCP Server Cards (SEP-2127), Official MCP Registry, Agent Skills, Markdown for Agents

All 278 of 278 panel domains were checked today. MCP is published by 135 domains and MCP Server Cards by 120, each -1 since 2026-10-26. descope.com stopped publishing MCP, MCP Server Cards, Agent Skills and Markdown for Agents, and moved from grade A+ (67) to B (30). cafe24.com moved from grade B (30) to F (0). The official MCP Registry recorded 1962 servers (3000 versions) published or updated since 2026-10-26.

Why it matters: The panel changes come from a few domains rather than a broad trend. Registry activity remains high for anyone tracking MCP server discovery.

The numbers

We re-check a fixed panel of 278 domains every day through the same /check/ report anyone can run. 278 answered today. Changes compare the 276 domains checked cleanly on both 2026-10-26 and 2026-10-27.
